This project involved providing a full sized basketball court on a small and land locked site. Efforts to save valuable outside play space by placing the new building at first floor level proved costly and impractical. A solution was developed where large vertically sliding glass panels were designed at each end of the space so the space could be used as play space during recesses and lunch time, drama, music and school assemblies during class times and even as a public gathering or competition standard sports facility after hours. The new space forms a link between older and newer parts of the school which had been separated previously. It is a cheap sustainable solution which has bonded and given a strong focus to the school and the community.
