Delivered as part of the BER program, the new multipurpose hall at St Joseph’s Primary School, Yarra Junction, serves as a vibrant hub for sports, performance, and community gatherings. Centrally positioned near the main campus entry, the facility features a state-of-the-art indoor basketball court, providing students with an enhanced space for physical education and recreational activities.
Designed for versatility, the raised stage at one end of the court functions as both a performance area and a dedicated green room or community meeting space. The welcoming foyer seamlessly connects to the court while also providing direct access to the meeting room, reinforcing the building’s role as a dynamic social and event venue.
A cleverly integrated kitchen serves both the court and foyer, doubling as a reception counter to support a variety of school functions and gatherings. The hall’s prominent entrance, marked by a grand stairway under a protective canopy, offers a striking visual address, with ramp access ensuring inclusivity across all levels of the building.
This transformative space enriches the school community, fostering engagement, creativity, and active participation in a range of educational, cultural, and sporting activities.
