As part of the broader Hadfield Water Park redevelopment in Wallan, Mitchell Shire Council took a significant step toward accessibility and inclusion by installing a Changing Place facility. FPPV Architecture was engaged to design and document the facility, ensuring it met the highest standards for accessibility and user experience. Changing Places are purpose-designed amenities that provide safe facilities for people with high support needs.
The changing room includes an adult-sized, height-adjustable changing table, a ceiling-mounted hoist system, and a large, clean environment with ample circulation space. These features allow individuals with complex disabilities—and their carers—to use public facilities comfortably. The design carefully considers the practical requirements of users while maintaining a calm, functional, and hygienic environment.
Positioned adjacent to the newly completed accessible water play park, this facility significantly enhances the usability and inclusivity of Hadfield Park. It ensures that everyone in the community, regardless of ability, can participate fully in the fun and social opportunities the park offers.
