Part of the Legislative Council Ministerial Wing project, the Attendants Staff Room provided a space close to the chamber for staff to prepare for the day, or to take time out and relax.
Conversion of a number of offices into a staff room saw the introduction of hydraulic services to the third floor, the removal of walls and the general restoration of the heritage fabric. Removal of original walls has been identified subtly through the retention of the original cornices in the open plan space.
The arrangement of amenities, lockers and change rooms has been considered to reduce the impact of the hydraulic services on the building fabric, by locating fixtures near the existing vent pipe and building out the wall. Pipework and services unable to be concealed have been made a feature, through the introduction of copper.
All windows were restored, to maximise views across the gardens to the Yarra River.
