FPPV was originally engaged by Mitchell Shire Council to undertake the concept design for a new multipurpose Agricultural Shed and Pavilion at King’s Park in Seymour. When the Council opted to proceed with a Design & Construct procurement method, FPPV was also engaged by the builder to deliver detailed documentation suitable for this approach. The primary function of the structure is to accommodate livestock during various agricultural shows held throughout the year. As such, the design prioritised clear internal height, durable flooring suitable for a variety of animals, and integrated amenities to provide water and ensure animal welfare. Key considerations also included safety for both animals and people, flexibility for temporary pen installation, and support spaces such as storage, display areas for wool and other produce, and a vet room equipped with water and benches for use during events.

In addition to its agricultural role, the pavilion also serves as a valuable asset to the broader community. It is used by the neighbouring Riding for the Disabled school and is available for hire for a range of local events. As a result, it was essential to create more than just a functional shed. The final design features a portal frame construction with large roller doors that offer weather protection while maintaining a semi-open, flexible event space. Secure storage and a small office are incorporated within the layout. Thoughtful use of colour and materiality elevates the structure, transforming it into a striking and welcoming piece of community infrastructure that supports both rural traditions and inclusive civic engagement.
