Stage 2 Upgrades

Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action

2023

35 Ascot Street, Dartmoor, VIC 3304

Traditional Custodians: Gunditjmara

The Dartmoor Depot has been transformed into a modern facility enhancing operational efficiency and community value. The project involved demolishing and removing three existing buildings, followed by the construction of three new sheds for vehicle storage, workshop space, a wash down bay, and storage for vehicles and trailers. Additionally, a new outdoor covered structure was developed to accommodate large briefings during peak seasons.

A significant upgrade was made to the storage of dangerous goods, including new fuel tanks, fuel drum storage, dangerous goods trailers, decanting, and spill bunding. Despite the site being located on an embankment, which posed significant constraints, the site layout was successfully upgraded for B-double vehicle movements and current standards.

The project also focused on sustainability and self-sufficiency with upgrades to both back-up power and onsite water filtration systems, and the installation of new solar panels and batteries. Security was enhanced with the entire site being fenced, new automatic gates, and updated security systems.

The comprehensive redevelopment increased the depot’s prominence in the town, promoting it as a key community asset and workplace. The project reflects a commitment to modern standards, safety, sustainability, and community value, transforming the depot into a state-of-the- art facility that supports the community while ensuring efficient and secure operations.

The Dartmoor Depot redevelopment combined modern construction, safety upgrades, sustainability initiatives, and community-focused improvements. This transformation has resulted in a modern, efficient, and secure facility.
