This project involved the adaptive reuse of a 1980s building originally intended to serve as a community centre, however had not been completed for its intended use. The design challenge was to repurpose the building into a vibrant and functional facility housing child care services, baby health clinics, a kindergarten, and family welfare programs.

Maximizing the use of the existing building fabric, the project embraced sustainable design principles by retaining and reimagining the original massing. The centre now houses child care services, baby health clinics, a kindergarten, and family welfare programs. The original massing was preserved and thoughtfully integrated into the new design, reducing construction waste and maintaining a strong architectural presence.

A bold new aesthetic was developed to harmonize with the building’s distinctive salmon pink brickwork, creating a refreshed and cohesive visual identity that unifies the old and the new. The result is a welcoming, contemporary facility that revitalizes the site while serving the evolving needs of the community.

The scope of works included a full fit-out of the ground floor of the existing unfinished building, the addition of a new single-level extension to house a kindergarten, and the fit-out of the first floor to accommodate medical suites. The project also featured comprehensive landscaping to enhance the outdoor environment and support a variety of community-focused activities.
