Beginning in 2003, FPPV undertook several feasibility and site suitability assessment studies for the University of Melbourne. In 2005, FPPV was commissioned as the principal consultant for the design and delivery of a data centre at 258 Queensberry Street, Carlton. The first Data Hall was completed in 2006, followed by the second in 2011.

The 2nd Data Hall Project is a Tier 2 computing facility featuring N+1 redundancy on electrical and mechanical services. This facility supports high-density computing at the University of Melbourne, leveraging super-computing to advance the university's research ambitions. The project required the complex integration of services and facilities, ensuring the functionality of the existing data facilities was maintained throughout the construction phase of the 2nd Data Hall.

FPPV's role as principal consultant involved coordinating the intricate design and construction processes, addressing the technical challenges associated with creating a high-performance computing environment. The successful completion of the 2nd Data Hall has significantly enhanced the university's computing capabilities, providing a robust infrastructure to support cutting-edge research and innovation.

Overall, the University of Melbourne Data Centre Project exemplifies FPPV's expertise in delivering sophisticated, mission-critical facilities that meet the demanding requirements of modern research institutions.
