FPPV crafted a thoughtful solution for the second-level balconies within the Vestibule, addressing compliance concerns associated with heritage balusters.
The design process prioritized sight lines from the Vestibule itself. The handrails were conceptualized as floating tubes, offset from the existing handrail, and paired with a single sheet of 12mm laminated glass that was discreetly attached to the balusters.
Fabricated in solid brass, FPPV collaborated extensively with a steel fabricator to develop prototypes and refine the concealed fixing methods. The final result is a handrail that seamlessly meets contemporary standards while preserving the building’s historic integrity and functionality.
